Dinner, what does that word do to you? What are the first thoughts you have? Fond memories or something all together different? Our family dinner is around a table that my Pop made for Mimi and my dad to eat around (my dad is 68 so it’s at least 70 yrs old!!) Yes, I have painted it and recovered the chairs umpteen times, made it my own but, none the less it screams history. For the 1st 10 years of my life I ate Sunday lunch around that table almost every week. It warms my heart to sit with my family and discuss the days events!
I stumbled upon Dinner, A Love Story and I am IN LOVE with Jenny, her meal diary, her story telling and recipe sharing. She and I, yep thick as thieves, we would be, if we actually knew each other! Jenny shares my philosophy about the family table, the dinner table.
I spread my love for my family and friends by cooking for them and I have always made dinner a priority. It will always be. I vow that no matter what sports, job, extra circulars dinner will be at the table with the family at least most nights! (there is only 3 of us, we can do it, right?)
Do you need help with the family dinner? Do you not have the time or the resources to make it happen? I can help! Really, I can. I can help you with menu planning and grocery shopping to BRING BACK the FAMILY DINNER! I can even cook for your family for so much less expensive and so much healthier than take out or drive thru every night!!
Share this post with your family, your friends, tell me what you think? What does DINNER mean to you?

Jamie Oliver’s FOOD REVOLUTION is premiering on Sunday at 10pm on ABC. PLEASE set the dvr and watch it with your family. Also GO HERE and sign Jamie’s petition. I can not tell you how much I support this project! It is so IMPORTANT to teach our children to be healthy. After watching FOOD INC I have been on a mission to try and help spread the word. I am so excited about what the can mean for everyone!
From Jamie: “The American FOOD REVOLUTION needs to start now! If you care about your country and the health of its children please help us make a difference. We need your support to get people back in touch with food and keep cooking skills alive before it’s too late. We want to make sure every kid gets good, fresh food at school. It’s proven that real food promotes more effective learning. If you want better health for your kids the junk food must go. I need to be able to show The President and industry how many of you out there really care about this issue so please don’t wait, sign up today. It will only take 30 seconds.”
SO, I am asking you what do you do to make a Healthier America for your family?
1. Planting my Garden
2. Shopping Locally (farmer’s mkts are a great source)
3. Buying ORGANIC even now at Wal Mart
4. Cooking fresh food for my family!

It has snowed EVERY Friday for 3 weeks! I live in the South for goodness sakes! We haven’t EVER had this much snow. Is it Global Warming? Cross your fingers for me!

Saturday we had “Family Day” and we went to the LAZY 5 RANCH in Mooresville, NC. This place is so awesome! It is a drive-thru or ride-thru ZOO! I personally like it much better as the wild-life is LITERALLY in your face!! It was such a great day, mid- November and it was 70+ degrees. I highly recommend visiting our friends at Lazy 5! Next time, we hope to go with friends and we will do the wagon ride! Can’t wait!!
The camera is not on zoom, this guy was an inch from me!

Pumpkin Patch time!!! I love the fall and all the fun things that go with it. I have taken Little j to a “pumpkin patch” really just the front lawn at a local church covered in pumpkins the past two years but, now that he is a Big Boy it was high time we headed to a “real” patch! We went to Johnny Wilson’s Farm in Sawmills, NC it is about 25mins north of Hickory going up 321N. I have linked there website, though it has no info! It is a fantastic place. The family that owns it is so nice we got there almost a hour before they opened (as said I had no info) and they were as nice as can be! It’s $6 per person and that includes the tractor ride, corn maze, petting zoo, huge inflatable and a pumpkin! We had a blast! They also do school groups, parties and all sorts of fun stuff. We had a blast!! I will be adding Johnny Wilson’s Farm to my list of traditions! Thanks!!
